Bhubaneswar: In order to make students aware of climate change and COVID pandemic, the Odisha government make both subjects part of school curriculum.
Speaking to media persons, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash said both climate change and COVID management will be included in school syllabus from 2022-23 academic year. Both issues hold significance in the light of their contemporary context, he added.
Besides, the spread of COVID pandemic, which has assumed global proportion, can be checked by voluntary hygienic and health practices in daily life. These habits should be encouraged among the students from childhood to save them from being victims of the disease, the minister said.
Curb on entry of scribes to schools
Speaking on the direction of a Block Education Officer in Dhenkanal district to school headmasters not to allow the journalists inside the premises without permission, the minister said the government is aware of lapses and weaknesses of the department.
“The media has every right to expose the mistakes and loopholes in the government actions in different sectors. But in some cases, web media seems to be pushing its role beyond its limits. It should not happen,” he added.
It may be noted that the BEO issued the direction after a recent incident in which some students and teachers fumbled when they were interviewed by some reporters.
