New Delhi: Two-and-a-half months after popular singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala was murdered in broad daylight, his father Balkar Singh has alleged that some of his close friends and politicians were behind the assassination.
Balkar promised to release the names of these people soon, India Today reported.
According to Balkar, Sidhu was murdered as he had climbed in the popularity ranks in a very short period of time which some people could not tolerate this.
“Even the government was misled. Some people wanted him to make deals in his career through them. But Sidhu was independent. This they could not accept and had him killed,” Balkar said.
Singer-politician Sidhu was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29. The day before, the state government had withdrawn Sidhu’s security cover.
Sidhu’s cousin and a friend were also injured in the attack. The autopsy revealed 19 bullets were pumped into his body and that he died within 15 minutes of being shot at.
