Berhampur: Over 30 people had a close shave after their boat developed snag in Chilika lake on Friday.
The boat, carrying over 30 passengers and around 15 two-wheelers, had left Janhikuda for Satpada early Friday morning.
After travelling about 1.5 km, the boat’s engine seized and it got stuck.
After some passengers recorded videos and posted them on social media, police and fire personnel mounted a rescue operation. None of the passengers had life jackets.
On April 6, in a similar incident, a boat had got stuck in the lake. On May 6, another boat with 11 people capsized. Ten of them were rescued, while one drowned.
