Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurated ‘Nirman Kusuma Yojana’ to facilitate financial assistance to the construction workers’ children, who have been studying in government ITI and engineering diploma institutions.
Inaugurating the Yojana at Jaydev Bhawan here, the Chief Minister said, “We have started this Yojana to fulfill the dream of the children of construction workers, who have been pursuing technical courses.”
He declared that the state government will provide cent per cent financial assistance to the sons and daughters of construction workers, who have been pursuing ITI, polytechnic and diploma in government colleges of state. The state government has deposited more than Rs 1 crore this year in the accounts of beneficiaries, he informed.
He also said financial assistance given to the girl children of the registered workers for pursuing education from Class-VI to post graduation (PG) has also been enhanced by 20 per cent.
The Chief Minister also announced that ex-gratia amount has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh (in case of natural death) and from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2 lakh (in case of accidental death) for the registered construction workers.
Under this yojana, Rs 23,600 financial assistance is being provided to those pursuing ITI course and Rs 26,300 financial assistance for polytechnic and diploma courses.
A total of Rs 1.09 crore was deposited in bank accounts of to 1,878 beneficiaries for the 2018-19 academic session.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister provided financial aid to the children of more than 500 construction workers for ITI and diploma education.
