Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik handed over appointment letters to 76 newly-recruited assistant soil conservation officers (ASCOs) at a function held at Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) here on Tuesday.
Congratulating the ASCOs, the chief minister exhorted them to work towards the development of farmers and agriculture sector in the state.
The Chief Minister said Odisha is the third largest contributor to the public distribution system and Kalahandi has now emerged as the rice bowl of the state as well as the country.
The meeting was attended by agriculture minister Damodar Rout, agriculture production commissioner Gagan Kumar Dhal, department’s principal secretary Manoj Ahuja and OUAT vice-chancellor Prof. Surendranath Pashupalak.
