Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of a seven-storey building for Habishyalis at Puri through videoconferencing here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said,”The state government has set a target to establish a permanent seven-storey building to accommodate around 3,000 Habishyalis. All efforts will be made to provide them Prasad during the Kartika month.”
Among others, revenue minister Maheswar Mohanty, chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and development commissioner R. Balakrishnan were present.
Construction of the new building at Narendrakona in Puri will begin soon. A tender in this regard would be floated within the next seven days, official sources said.
Of the total 2,700 Habishyalis registered this year, 2,340 are in Puri.
