Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the ‘Odisha State Day Celebrations’ at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Friday.
Speaking at the special event as the chief guest, the CM said participation in the grand fair will be immensely helpful in promoting the rich art, culture and traditions of Odisha.
“The unique handicrafts and handlooms of Odisha have gained international fame today. Odisha is showcasing it at the ongoing India International Trade Fair. People from across the country are getting an opportunity to know about our art and craft,” Majhi said.
Noting that Odisha will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of separate Utkal Pradesh in 2036, he said the state government is moving forward in the direction of our commitment to build a new and prosperous Odisha.
Stressing that Odisha has a strong infrastructure for establishing modern industries, the CM said the state government has also implemented a special policy for this. Odisha’s mineral resources, long coastline and vast forests attract industrialists and entrepreneurs from India and abroad.
Utkarsh Odisha Make in Odisha Conclave is being organised in January 2025 to discuss how more industries can be established in Odisha in the coming days, said Majhi.
Going around the ‘Odisha Mandap’, the Chief Minister visited various stalls displaying handicrafts and handicrafts of Mission Shakti women, tribal culture and artefacts and various rural products. He appreciated the ‘Odisha Mandap’ designed on the theme ‘Developed India, Developed Odisha’.
The ‘Odisha State Day Celebration’ was celebrated at Amphitheater-1 of the India International Trade Fair where Odissi dance guru Shashwat Joshi and his companions performed a dance drama and Sambalpuri folk dance to the tune of ‘Rasgola’ and the popular Ja’ Ja’ Ja’.
Ghoomura dance was performed by the Vrindavan Cultural Institute of Kalahandi and Ghooduka dance was performed by the Duluduli Kala Parishad of Bolangir. Popular Odisha singer Sushmita Das performed fusion music. This rich dance and music of Odisha enchanted the Delhi audience.
Special editions of the monthly magazines ‘Utkal Lusaka’ and ‘Odisha Review’ published by the state government were launched on the occasion.
