CM Mohan Majhi Reviews Progress In Odisha Woman Rape Case During Delhi Stopover

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed various aspects of the rape case, involving a woman from Odisha, after arriving in Delhi on Wednesday evening, before taking a connecting flight to Chandigarh to attend the swearing in ceremony of the new Haryana government.

According to sources, Inspector General (IG), of Crime Against Women and Children Wing (CAW & CW) S Shyni, briefed the CM on the case development. Family members of the victim, who hails from a coastal town in Odisha, were also present.

Majhi enquired about the survivor’s health and progress in the investigation.

Senior officers of Odisha Police are coordinating with their counterparts in Delhi to identify and apprehend the culprit.

On the direction of the CM, Shyni reached Delhi on Tuesday to review the progress of the probe into the rape case. She also met the victim and inquired about her health.

Earlier, DGP Y B Khurania had spoken to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora regarding the incident.

The 34-year-old nursing graduate woman from Odisha was allegedly raped and later dumped in Sarai Kale Khan area of Delhi. She was found in a semi-conscious state on October 11, and admitted to the AIIMS trauma care centre. She had left her hometown a year ago.

The Odisha Resident Commissioner’s office in Delhi is also keeping tabs on investigation into the case, sources added.
