Bhubaneswar: Amid buzz over possible expansion of the ministry, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi is scheduled to leave for Delhi on a two-day visit on Tuesday evening.
According to sources, BJP state unit president Manmohan Samal has convened a party meeting in Delhi in which the CM and all MPs (both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) are invited to participate. Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram and Ashwini Vaishnaw are expected to take part in this crucial meeting during the Parliament session, which seems to have been convened to sort out issues related to Odisha.
Samal was in Delhi for five days last month, following which he had hinted at a major organisational restructuring in the party. He had further stated that the six ministerial berths currently lying vacant in Odisha cabinet will be filled up at an appropriate time after discussion in the central parliamentary party.
After assuming office on June 12 last year, Majhi inducted 14 leaders into his ministry, with expectations that the remaining vacancies would be filled within a month. However, the posts continue to lie vacant even after a year.
A decision may also be taken on appointment of new chairpersons of different boards and corporations in the state, which is also long overdue, the sources added.
