Bhubaneswar: As part of the curtain-raiser of the third edition of the Make-in-Odisha Conclave, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is on a six-day visit to Delhi, will meet envoys and representatives of 16 countries on Wednesday evening.
This is the third investment roadshow after Dubai and Ahmedabad ahead of the mega-industry carnival from November 30 to December 4, being held after a delay of two years due to the COVID pandemic.
Top diplomats of the USA, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and the UAE have been invited to the investment meeting. The ambassadors’ meet will be held for around one hour in the evening during the 3-hour-long event, sources said.

During the meeting, a presentation on the flagship business summit of the Odisha government and the CM would elaborate on the business ecosystem in the state and the ease of doing business reforms implemented in the state. He is also expected to meet representatives of leading companies and industry associations in the national capital.
The state is mainly looking for investment in metals and metal downstream, chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles and apparel including technical textiles, food processing including seafood processing, electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM), logistics and clean energy.
While the CM will be accompanied by Minister for Industries, MSME and Energy Pratap Keshari Deb, a high-level official delegation comprising Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Principal Secretary of Industries department Hemant Sharma and Managing Director of IPICOL Bhupendra Singh Poonia will attend.
Notably, Naveen had set the tone for this biennial event during his first overseas investors’ meet in Dubia in June when he invited investors from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to invest in Odisha. Investment intents worth more than Rs 21,000 crore were received during the event.
The CM is also expected to follow up on important pending work with the Centre on other days and will be conferred Capital Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award by former CJI Justice NV Ramana at India International Centre on September 4, before returning to Odisha on September 6, the sources added.
