Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to inaugurate Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda in Odisha’ capital on Friday
According to Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) sources, a trial run will be conducted before the inauguration. While the beautification of the terminal has already been completed, finishing touches are being given to the lighting work.
The inter-state bus terminal, which will be fully automated with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers at the entry and exit points, will also house a 900 square feet Ambedkar Gallery, showing the life of Babasaheb and a large photo of the Constitution of India. The RFID tags will also be fixed on the buses giving realtime location of the vehicles.
Constructed on 15.5 acre of land, the bus terminal has modern facilities like state-of-the-art Ahaar Centre, restaurants, pick-up and drop-off points, markets, toilets, drinking water facilities and other amenities. It also has baby feeding rooms for lactating mothers, children’s play areas, a police outpost with 89 personnel and 144 bus bays to cater to 30,000 passengers on a daily basis.
A dedicated parking space has been set up on the premises of the terminal for vendors.
