Coal Crisis: Railway Board Chairman Assures All Help To Odisha’s MCL For Transportation
Bhubaneswar: With coal crisis looming large over thermal-based industry and power sector in the country, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Railway Board VK Tripathi has assured all support to Odisha’s Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL) in transportation.
Tripathi, who is on a visit to Odisha, discussed various issues with MCL authorities and assured to provide all kinds of support in the field of coal transportation and traffic facilities on Sunday. Senior officials from East Coast Railway (ECoR) and Khurda Road division and officials from MCL participated in the review meeting.
Before the meeting, the CEO inspected Talcher coal loading points and took stock of developmental activities in connection with traffic facilities and hassle-free train operations.
He also reviewed developmental works of the Railways in the area. General Manager (in-charge) of ECoR Sarad Kumar Srivastav and Divisional Railway Manager of Khurda Road division Rinkesh ray were present on the occasion.
According to letter dated May 28 of Power Ministry, Coal India plans to import coal as shortages of the fossil fuel and power outages loom. Coal India will import the fuel for the first time since 2015.
