Bhubaneswar: With cold and dry air blowing into Odisha, the night temperature dropped at several places on Monday.
“Bhubaneswar recorded 18.6 degree Celsius, a drop of 1.8 degrees since yesterday, while Cuttack at 17 degree Celsius recorded a dip of 2 degrees,” senior meteorologist Umasankar Das posted on X.
The twin cities had recorded 20.5 and 19 degree Celsius respectively, almost 4.5 degrees above normal, on Sunday.
In the last 24 hours, the mercury also dropped to 8 degree Celsius each in Rourkela and Jharsuguda, which had recorded 11.4 and 11.2 degree Celsius the previous day. Keonjhar at 11.2 degree Celsius saw the highest drop of 4.9 degrees in the night temperature, followed by Sambalpur (3.7).
G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest place in the state at 6.4 degree Celsius. It had recorded 8.4 degree Celsius the previous day.

Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday had forecast no large change in the night temperature during the next 4-5 days with mercury expected to hover around 22-23 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar.
The weather agency had also warned of dense fog at one or two places in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Jagatsinghpur districts till Monday morning.
