Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha could feel the chill on Wednesday following a sudden drop in the night temperature.
According to a release of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Kandhamal was the coldest place at 7 degree Celsius while temperature remained below 10 degrees at seven places – Daringbadi (9), Sonepur (8.6), Sundargarh (9), Sambalpur (9.5), Keonjhar (9.4), Jharsuguda (8.5) and Angul (8).
Apart from this, the mercury hovered at 12 degrees and less in Balasore (10.5), Cuttack (11.5), Baripada (11.4), Hirakud (10.6), Talcher (11.3), Balangir (11.8), Bhawanipatna (10), Koraput (10.4) and Titlagarh (10).
The Odisha capital recorded 13 degree Celsius with a fall in the night temperature by 2 degrees.
The Meteorological Centre, in a release on Tuesday, had said that a high pressure formed over Odisha prevented the flow of wind from the north. Since high pressure had subsided, cold wind started blowing across Odisha since the last 24 hours.
“As the weather is now clear and the cold wind has started blowing across the state, the night temperature is most likely to dip by 2-3 degree Celsius in interior Odisha with below 10 degrees at some places and 1-2 degrees in the remaining parts of the state for the next three days till January 18,” the release added.
