Bhubaneswar: A fresh cold wave swept most parts of interior Odisha on Monday with a sharp fall in night temperature.
Sonepur reported the minimum temperature of 11.2°C in the state. Also, the night temperature came down to 15°C and below at eight places in Angul (13.6), Baripada (13.2), Jharsuguda (12.6), Keonjhar (13.4), Talcher (15), Bhawanipatna (13.2), Phulbani (12.5) and Daringbadi (12.5).
The Duty Officer of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Uma Shankar Das, informed that there will be a fall in the night temperature by 3-4°C across Odisha from November 26.
Das also said that a well-marked low-pressure area has intensified into a depression over the south-west and adjoining south-east Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm and cross the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts during the next 24 hours.
He said heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur at one or two places over the south Odisha districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Malkangiri and Koraput for two days on November 25 and 26.
However, the weather in the remaining parts of the state will remain dry, he added.
