Coldplay Receives Notice From Child Protection Unit Ahead Of Ahmedabad Concert

Ahmedabad: British rock band Coldplay has been issued a notice by the District Child Protection Unit in Ahmedabad, prohibiting them from having children on the stage during their concert.

Highlighting that sound levels exceeding 120 decibels during the concert are harmful for children, the unit instructed the concert organisers to ensure that every child has an earplug or hearing protection aid when they enter the venue.

The Child Protection Unit warned the organisers of strict action if it failed to comply with these directives.

The notice was issued following a complaint lodged by Pandit Rao Dharnevar, Assistant Professor of Sociology in Chandigarh.

Dharnevar told ANI that exposing children to loud sounds and bright lights during a concert can pose a significant risk to their physical health and mental development.

He further stated to safeguard the rights of children, he will be taking similar steps in future too.

The highly-awaited Coldplay concert is scheduled to be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26.

Earlier, Dharnevar had also filed a complaint against Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s New Year concert in Ludhiana.

Following the complaint, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Department, Government of Punjab, issued a notice to Ludhiana’s District Commissioner, asking them to prohibit the singer from performing certain songs at his concert.

Songs such as ‘Patiala Pegg,’ ‘5 Tara Theke,’ and ‘Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya),’ which promoted alcohol, were banned at Dilijit’s concert.
