Bhubaneswar: While the demand for the reopening of major shrines in Odisha have intensified after the decision to reopen the Jagannath temple on December 23, the state government has said that collectors will decide on the reopening of temples in their respective districts.
Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy on Monday tweeted that the state government had earlier empowered the collectors to take local level decisions to open religious institutions for public worship after discussing with stakeholders and enforcing the standard operating procures (SOPs).

Tripathy said the process is on for the reopening of religious institutions in different districts with strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines.
