Jagatsingpur: A college girl committed suicide at Kujang in Jagatsingpur district after she was allegedly molested by a youth, on Sunday.
According to sources, a youth had attempted to molest and rape the girl on August 14. The girl tried to escape and screamed for help, following which, the locals rushed to the spot and caught hold of him.
He was later arrested by police based on the complaint filed by victim’s family.
However, the girl was found hanging in her room on Sunday. On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem.
Though the exact reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the girl committed suicide as she felt ashamed of the whole incident.
