New Delhi: Fifteen days after being hospitalised following a heart attack, comedian Raju Srivastava gained consciousness on Thursday.
Garvit Narang, his Personal Secretary, told the news agency ANI that Raju’s health condition is improving but he is still being monitored by doctors.
The 58-year-old stand-up comedian was admitted to the AIIMS on August 10 after he collapsed while working out at a Delhi gym. He underwent an angioplasty the same day.
Earlier, his brother Dipoo Srivastava had informed that the doctors treating Raju were positive about his recovery and that good news might come in any time soon. “The reports that he has been taken off the ventilator is not true. Raju ji is stable, doctors are doing their best and treating him. I request his fans to pray for him, we are expecting some good news soon. Doctors have said he will recover.”
Notably, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan had sent a video message to the ailing comedian, urging him to wake up from the state of unconsciousness. “It’s enough Raju. Rise up Raju, and keep teaching us all to laugh,” Big B said in the video message. The video message was reportedly played for him on the doctor’s advice.
