Nabarangpur: The Town Police on Friday registered a suo motu case against the former Congress MP Pradeep Majhi and 15 others for allegedly inciting violence during the 12-hour bandh in Nabarangpur district the previous day.

The case has been registered under Section, 147, 341, 353, 283, 506, 435, 120(b) of the IPC and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.

The police said that cases are most likely to be registered against other persons.

Notably, Majhi was caught on camera instructing his partymen over the phone to set the vehicles on fire, during the bandh.

“We are neither panicked nor afraid of the police. After all, it is the policy of the state government and the Home department to take action against any person if raises protest against the rape and murder of women and minor girls. I have sought a reply from the state government in this regard. If there is no reply from the government, I will have my reply,” Majhi told the media later.

Asked about the police case, he said why 15 persons, let the police book all people of Nabarangpur district.

The Congress workers had set a vehicle on fire in Nabarangpur town during the bandh on Thursday.
