Congress Hints At Revoking Suspension Of Odisha Leaders Mohd Moquim & Chiranjib Biswal
Bhubaneswar: With Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly elections fast approaching, Congress on Monday hinted at revoking the suspension of Barabati-Cuttack legislator Mohammed Moquim and former MLA Chiranjib Biswal.
The two leaders, who were suspended from the grand old party over six months ago, met Odisha in-charge of Congress Ajoy Kumar in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
Describing his meeting with the two suspended leaders as nice, Kumar told reporters that there was probably some misunderstanding, but Congress is very much there in the DNA of both the leaders.
“We should see both Moquim Bhai and Chiranjib Ji as members of one family. They are strong leaders and belong to the party’s organisation. It is obligatory on all of us that we should try to clear the existing misunderstandings,” Kumar said.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Moquim said he and Biswal discussed matters related to the party’s organisation in their respective constituencies. The need to strengthen the party ahead of the upcoming elections was discussed.
Notably, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on July 16, 2023, suspended Moquim and Biswal from the party on the ground of anti-party activities.
Despite their suspension, the two veteran leaders did not join any party even though there was speculation about the possibility of their joining the Biju Janata Dal(BJD).
