Congress Leader Adhir Chowdhury Suspended From Lok Sabha For ‘Unruly’ Conduct
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was on Thursday suspended from Lok-Sabha for “unruly behaviour” during proceedings in Parliament on the last day of the debate on no-confidence motion against the Central government.
Chowdhury’s suspension followed a resolution moved by BJP leader Pralhad Joshi, which was accepted in Lok Sabha.
Chowdhury will remain suspended until the Privileges Committee submits its report on the matter, reported India Today.
Joshi accused Chowdhury of causing disruptions constantly and demeaning the country and its image during Parliamentary proceedings.
“It has become habitual. Despite getting repeated warnings, he hasn’t improved. He always makes baseless charges in his debates. He demeans the country and its image, and never apologises,” Joshi said.
The BJP member claimed that Chowdhury had behaved in a similar way when Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke on Wednesday.
Joshi then moved the resolution to refer Adhir’s matter to the Privileges Committee, and demanded that Adhir be suspended till the committee submits a report. The resolution was accepted by the Parliament.
