Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of activists of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) clashed with police at Sisu Bhawan Square here on Thursday during their protest over Kunduli gangrape and suicide case.
The scuffle ensued when the police personnel prevented the agitators from matching towards the Chief Minister’s residence. Following which the activists clashed with police and pelted eggs at them.
Later, the police took several party workers into custody.
“The state government’s decision to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the gangrape and suicide of Kunduli victim is an eyewash. A CBI inquiry should be conducted to give justice to the minor girl”, said OPCC president Prasad Harichandan, who led the rally.
