Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge To Visit Odisha On Jan 29
Bhubaneswar: President of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Mallikarjun Kharge will be arriving in Bhubaneswar on January 29 to address a workers’ conference, sources said on Saturday.
With the party hoping to revive its fortune in Odisha in 2024 election, Kharge will hold discussions on the party’s strategy with senior leaders of the state unit during his visit. He will also review the preparations for Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra when Rahul Gandhi will undertake tours through Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts.
The Odisha unit feels Rahul’s visit would infuse necessary vigour into the party to take on the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the coming election.
Sources further said that Kharge had recently met coordinators of 21 Lok Sabha constituencies from the state in New Delhi and asked them to reach out to maximum number of voters in their areas.
Notably, Congress on Friday constituted its state election committee for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Odisha. The 18-member committee will be headed by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak and includes leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Narasingh Mishra, former state presidents Niranjan Patnaik, Jaydev Jena, Prasad Harichandan, campaign committee chairman Bijay Patnaik, former union minister Bhakta Charan Das, AICC secretary Sarat Rout, party MP Saptagiri Ulaka and party MLA Santosh Singh Saluja.
Besides, chiefs of all frontal organisations of the party are ex-officio members of the committee.
