Bhubaneswar: Congress criticised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for being absent in the Assembly during a discussion on the death of Haridaspur PEO Smitarani Biswal on Thursday.
During the discussion, the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), Narasingha Mishra, alleged that the CM was deliberately absent from the House because he didn’t have the moral guts to face the Opposition on the sensitive matter.
Deriding the police investigation into the PEO’s death, Mishra claimed that the people of the state have lost faith in Odisha Police. “Going by the manner of the investigation, it is now clear that the state police are trying to hush up the matter due to the involvement of some influential leaders of the ruling party,” he added.
The CLP also accused police of hushing up several sensitive cases in the past and demanded a CBI probe into the PEO’s death.
