Bhubaneswar: The Congress steering committee for Odisha formed by the AICC is scheduled to hold its first meeting on August 21.
A day after the 14-member panel was announced, its chairman and AICC in-charge for Odisha Ajoy Kumar informed the members that the committee will hold its inaugural meeting on August 21.
In a letter to the members of the steering committee, Kumar said the inaugural meeting is scheduled for August 21, 2024 at 7 pm where all former Odisha PCC presidents and CLP leaders will be special guests. Venue of the meeting will be communicated shortly, he added.
Letters have also been sent to the former PCC presidents and ex-CLP leaders inviting them as special guests for the meeting, sources said.
Kumar further said that as directed by the AICC, a protest will be organised in front of the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on August 22. In order to streamline, former MLA Mohd. Moquim has been appointed as the coordinator for this initiative.
He also requested all the senior leaders and workers of the party to join and contribute to the success of the protest.
Notably, the AICC had on July 21 dissolved the OPCC with the state president and all office bearers getting axed after the party’s ‘not so impressive performance’ during the recent elections.
As per sources, Congress has planned a nationwide protest on August 22. The party plans to stage demonstrations outside ED offices across the country, demanding the removal of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairman Madhabi Puri Buch.
