Controversy: Were PM Modi’s Security Details Leaked Ahead Of Kerala Trip?

Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister of State V Muraleedharan has made a serious allegation against the Kerala government.

Muraleedharan on Sunday claimed that details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security arrangements were leaked to the media days before his trip to Kerala and accused the state government of remaining silent on the issue.

A 49-page report by ADGP (Intelligence) with details like names of officials on duty, their roles and the PM’s programme chart was shown by Malayalam TV channels.

The BJP has claimed the “leak” was a grave mistake on the part of Kerala Police.

“It’s surprising that details of security arrangements that were proposed to be organised for the PM got leaked to the media and WhatsApp groups,” ANI quoted Muraleedharan as saying.

“But the most surprising thing is the silence that is maintained by the Kerala government. Within 24 hours, the person responsible should have been identified, but no action has been taken,” the Union minister added.

BJP has sought an explanation from Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan over the alleged leak days Modi’s visit to the state.

The PM is scheduled to arrive in Kerala on April 24 for a two-day visit. His programmes include flagging off of Vande Bharat Express from the state capital.

Kerala is already on high alert following a threat letter which spoke of a suicide attack during Modi’s Kochi visit.
