Cops Arrest 2 Including Labour Contractor In Angul’s Spurious Liquor Tragedy
Angul: Police arrested two individuals in connection with the spurious liquor tragedy at Angul district’s Pathargarh village in which four persons have died so far.
The arrested individuals have been identified as contractor Kalia Dehuri and his associate Basanta Dehury.
The contractor’s place was raided by the excise department and some industrial spirit was seized.
A probe was ordered by Angul SP and the cops are investigating whether the cause of deaths was due to the spurious liquor’s poisonous effect.
A total of four persons lost lives while four others were critical after allegedly consuming the spurious liquor in Pathargarh village.
“A contractor from the village had given food and liquor to the labourers after work. We found industrial spirit from the spot. The post-mortem of the deceased has been completed. The report will establish the exact cause of their death,” District Excise superintendent Ramendra Narayan Nayak said.
