Cops Identify Prime Suspect After Woman’s Body Pieces Found In Fridge At Bengaluru Flat

Bengaluru: The prime suspected inn Bengaluru woman’s death case that triggered memories of 2022 Shradda Walker case in Dehli was identified, police said. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Earlier, the dismembered body of a 26-year-old divorced woman—cut into over 20 pieces—was found in a refrigerator at her one-room apartment in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval area.

Police Commissioner B. Dayananda said, “It is being investigated from all angles. The prime suspect has been identified and efforts are underway to arrest him.”

The top cop said the suspect was an outsider. “We can’t give more information as of now as it may help the accused,” the cop said during a press conference on Monday.

The victim was identified as Mahalakshmi. The victim reportedly lived alone in the apartment after being separated from her husband. The couple has a child, who lives with the husband.

According to reports, the police suspected that the murder had taken place about 2 to 3 days ago. Police had sealed off the area after the body pieces were recovered.

A forensic team and a dog squad were deployed at the crime scene on Sunday to aid the investigation.

In 2022, Shraddha Walkar was killed and cut into pieces by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawalla in Delhi. Poonawalla had allegedly strangled Walkar and cut her body into 35 pieces, and stored those in a refrigerator before gradually disposing of them around the city over several weeks.
