Corona Beer Sales Take A Hit Due To Coronavirus
One of the world’s popular beers has been a surprising victim of the novel coronavirus.
Shares of the beer maker Constellation Brands Inc. dropped 8 per cent this week following the fear associated with the name. Apart from being a popular subject of memes across social media, there is reportedly an increase in online searches for “corona beer virus” and “beer coronavirus”.
The Mexican beer company is facing its lowest purchase intent in two years among adults in the US, according YouGov Plc.
The beer derives its name from the Sun’s corona and is the 3rd highest selling beer in the US, after Guinness and Heineken.
The virus, on the other hand, has lead to 83,385 positive cases, with 2,858 deaths. So far, the number of recovered people are 36,602.
