Bhubaneswar: Taking note that the stray dogs are left without food due to the closure of various trading establishments in the urban local bodies (ULBs) during the nationwide lockdown to, the Odisha government has decided to feed them.
The Animal Resources Development (ARD) Department in a letter to the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department has said that about 1.20 lakh stray dogs in the urban areas have become violent as they are without food due to the lockdown.
Considering the plight of these starving dogs, a budget of Rs 54 lakh has been allocated to feed them for two weeks, the ARD Department said and asked the H&UD department to make necessary arrangements in this regard.
