Corona Positive: Odisha Allows Home Quarantine For Asymptomatic Patients
Bhubaneswar: With thousands of Odia migrants returning to the State, the Odisha Government on Monday said corona positive persons having asymptomatic or mild symptoms can stay in home quarantine instead of institutional quarantine.
Since a patient with mild symptoms or asymptomatic can be discharged after 10 days of developing the symptoms or three days if he does not suffer from fever, he can stay in home quarantine, said Additional Chief Secretary of Health department PK Mohapatra. In severe case, he can be discharged three days after stop showing symptoms, he added.
But he said the house where the patient will stay must have separate room and toilet for him. Otherwise, he has to continue staying in institutional quarantine.
Before being allowed to stay in home quarantine, the person will be stamped on the hand and a band will be tied on his wrist. A quarantine sticker will also be pasted on his house. Children less than 5 years old, pregnant women and dibyangs will be tested on priority, Mohapatra said.
The decision will be effective in urban areas initially and will be extended to other areas, after any patient requests for home isolation and meets the necessary condition.
