Angul: As many as six panchayats in Angul district were shut down for four days after one person tested positive for coronavirus in the area.
According to a notification, the sarpanches of Pokatunga, Nandapur, Dhokuta, Sankhapur, Bantala and Kumurisinga panchayats took the decision after the swab test report of the person belonging to Bantala confirmed corona positive on Friday.
The shutdown will remain in force from today to 12 midnight of Friday. All shops and business establishments except those selling essential items will remain closed during the shutdown. The vehicular movement is also not allowed in the six panchayats.
The sarpanches have appealed to the villagers not to move out of their houses and to follow the guidelines of COVID-19 during the shutdown. They will decide next coutse of action after Friday.
