Coronavirus Can Survive On Your Phone For A Week!
Washing hands and wearing masks are not enough. One thing we often forget is sanitizing our phones.
According to Professor Peter Hall of the University of Waterloo, phones can become ‘petri dishes’ for viruses such as the novel coronavirus. A person on an average picks phone 2,600 times a day and uses it around 76 times, reports suggest.
Researchers say that the killer virus can survive on a flat surface such as your phone for almost a week if it is not disinfected. Touching your face after touching your uncleaned phone even after washing hands can be dangerous, said another professor from the University of Southampton.
Professor Hall recommends wiping phones with alcohol wipes twice a day. Apple recommends cleaning phone surfaces with soapy water and a microfiber cloth, though health experts say alcohol is better.
Also, a report by southernphone.au says that the average phone has ten times more bacteria than a toilet seat! When was the last time you wiped your phone?
