Amid increasing number of COVID-19 cases in India, the Indian government on Thursday decided to cancel all incoming international flights from March 22 for a week.
The government has also advised people above 65 to stay at home unless they are public representatives or doctors or government employees. Similarly, children below 10 too have been asked to do the same.
To curb non-essential travel, the Railways and airlines have suspended concessions in passenger fares expect for students, patients and persons with disabilities.
The government has also directed states to implement work from home for the private sector, except for emergency and essential services.
The number positive cases in India has touched 173 with 4 deaths. The fourth death was reported from Punjab – a 70-year-old man with a travel history to Italy and Germany – on Thursday.
