New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday postponed the board examinations for Class X and XII in view of the novel coronavirus outbreak. The exams were slated to be held from March 19 to March 31.
“All ongoing examinations of the board for classes-X and XII, being held in examination centres in India and abroad, and scheduled between 19.03.2020 to 31.3.20 (both dates inclusive), shall be rescheduled after 31st March, 2020,” CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi said in a release.
Re-examinations rescheduled for North-East Delhi candidates has been further postponed and the new dates will be communicated by March 31 after reassessing the situation, he said.
The evaluation work has also been suspended till March 31, he added.
The decision to reschedule the exams was taken following an instruction from the Secretary of Department of Higher Education. School Education and Literacy. The Human Resource Development Ministry had earlier directed educational regulators to hold the ongoing examinations, including CBSE Board and university examinations, and all evaluation works after March 31.
