Cuttack: A medical student from Odisha was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Sunday after her return from China.
Hospital sources said that the girl, who is pursuing MBBS in China, arrived in Odisha on Sunday. She underwent thermal screening at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar and was found in poor health.
Suspecting that the girl might be afflicted with Coronavirus, she was referred to SCB Medical College.
Hospital authorities said the swab and blood samples of the ailing student will be sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for a test. She will be kept in the isolation ward of the hospital till then, they added.
Another medical student from Phulbani was admitted to SCB Medical College on January 31 upon his return from China on January 11. As the student was suffering from cough and cold, he wrote to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kandhamal, Rajyashree Patnaik, who immediately referred him to SCB Medical College.
