Coronavirus Scare In Odisha: Central Team Visits SCB Isolation Ward
Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Three-member central team arrived in Odisha from New Delhi on Thursday to review the steps taken by the state government to identify and treat patients coming from China following the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.
According to reports, the central team led by Deputy Director, Centre for Environmental & Occupational Health of National Centre for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Shikha Vardhan arrived in Bhubaneswar this morning.
After a review meeting with Health Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Director Medical Education Training (DMET) Prof CBK Mohanty and Regional Director, Public Health, Susant Kumar Kar, the team visited the isolation ward at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and took stock of the steps taken by the hospital authorities.
Talking to mediapersons, the DMET said 33 persons from China, Thailand and Hong Kong had arrived in Odisha from January 15 till date. Of the three persons admitted to SCB isolation ward, a medical student from Phulbani has been discharged. Besides, the sample reports of four persons have been found negative while the remaining 26 persons are kept under home surveillance. “The Central team has expressed satisfaction over the precautionary measures taken by the state government,” he added.
Asked about the prescription of Homoeopathic medicines for the treatment of coronavirus, Mohanty said the AYUSH doctors can prescribe the right medicines.
