Bhubaneswar: With two more persons testing positive for coronavirus in Delhi and Telangana after their return from abroad, the Odisha government has directed the authorities of Biju Patnaik International Airport here to conduct thorough screening of all passengers.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has also sent a similar directive, airport director Baruda Venkateswara Rao informed on Tuesday.
Rao said that in accordance with the directives, all overseas passengers will have to undergo thermal screening before immigration.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das also informed that the airport authorities in Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda have been instructed to thoroughly screen all overseas passengers and admit anyone showing symptoms of the virus to a hospital.
“Till now, there has been no report of any person afflicted with coronavirus in Odisha. The state government and my department are fully aware of the situation and working to keep people safe from the virus,” he added.
