New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued summons to Ramdev on a suit by Delhi Medical Association (DMA) seeking to restrain the yoga guru from providing false information that Patanjali’s Coronil tablet is a cure for COVID-19.
The high court bench orally asked Baba Ramdev’s counsel to tell him to respond to the suit and not make any provocative statement till the next date of hearing on July 13.
Advocate Rajiv Dutta, representing DMA, contended that many people were averse to getting vaccinated due to Baba’s false claims, which was obstructing the inoculation process and hurting lives.
Patanjali Group founder Ramdev has repeatedly courted controversy with his comments and claims, the most recent being his views on allopathic medicines, including COVID-19 vaccines.
Indian Medical Association (IMA) took exception to Ramdev’s comments that allopathy is a “stupid science” and urged the Centre to take strong action.

Ramdev withdrew his comments after Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan wrote to him. But the yoga guru has continued to make his displeasure felt on modern medicines.
On Wednesday, IMA served a defamation notice on Ramdev, demanding an unconditional apology from him within 15 days failing which the association will demand compensation of Rs 1,000 crore from him.
