Couple Injured In Group Clash Over Land Dispute In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: A couple was seriously injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a land dispute in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday.
As per reports, the two groups of people of Babandha village under Nilagiri block of the district had an argument over damage to the barricade of a plot of land in the morning. The two groups were engaged in heated exchange of words.
While palpable tension prevailed in the village, some villagers attacked the children of Beherasahi in the village while the latter were going to play in the field. As the people of Beherasahi came to know about it, they rushed to Singhasahi where their children were attacked and they were also targeted.
As a pitched battle ensued between the two groups of villagers, Sukura Behera and his wife Ashamani Behera were seriously injured in the attack. Other villagers rushed the bleeding couple to the sub-divisional hospital at Nilagiri.
On being informed, a team from Nilagiri police station went to the village and restored normalcy. They also tried to broker compromise between the warring groups of villagers.
