Berhampur: A court has sentenced a man and his 4 sons to life imprisonment in a case of double murder committed 10 years back in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
As per the case, Gula Swain and his son Rajiv Swain of Jagannathpur village under Patapur police limits in the district were allegedly killed by some persons over past enmity on December 28, 2013. The bodies of the victims were found near the village pond.
The police had arrested eight persons in connection with the double murder at the time. Following investigation, the police had filed the charge sheet in the court.
After hearing 19 witnesses and examining the evidence produced by the police the case, the Additional District Sessions Judge First Class in Ganjam convicted Dhanu Swain and his four sons, Kartik Swain, Amin Swain, Bhagwan Swain and Saroj Swain.
Announcing its verdict on Thursday, the court sentenced life imprisonment to all the convicts. However, the court acquitted three women accused in the case for lack of evidence.
