Rourkela: Chief secretary Asit Tripathy on Tuesday said 20 more doctors will be deputed to Rourkela to strengthen the medical manpower to fight COVID-19.
The chief secretary accompanied by additional chief secretary, Health and Family Welfare Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra visited Hi-Tech hospital, Jaiprakash hospital and Shanti Memorial hospital in the city and took stock of the treatment facilities there. Later, he held a review meeting on the COVID management by the district administration.
Following the meeting, Tripathy in a video release said, “As of now, the Sundargarh district administration has managed the COVID-19 situation in a disciplined and organised manner. Two ICUs are presently operating at Rourkela and another will be set up soon.”
He further said 20 PG doctors have already been deputed to the city. Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) has been directed to start ‘Jan Sampark’ campaign involving the people’s representatives and community organisations for intensive house to house awareness and preventive activities, he added.
Stating that the plasma bank is functioning properly at Rourkela, additional chief secretary said the sero survey undertaken by RMRC, Bhubaneswar shows that around 25 percent people in Rourkela have developed anti-body against COVID-19.
Mohapatra directed to redeploy the health staff engaged in 297 COVID care centers set up at panchayat level since the people admitted there have already been discharged after recovery and many centres did not have any patient.
Sundargarh collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan; Director, DMET Dr CBK Mohanty; ADM Aboli Sunil Narwne; Rourkela Municipal Commissioner Divya Jyoti Parida; Chief District Medical Officer along with senior officers participated in the review meeting.
