Cuttack: Expressing grave concern over the rising number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) patients in Odisha, the Orissa High Court on Friday directed the Centre and the state government to take necessary steps to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to all health workers and hospital staff including doctors and nurses at the earliest.
The court, while issuing the directive in response to a public interest litigation (PIL), also directed to submit a detailed report on the number of the hospital staff and health workers engaged in the treatment of the coronavirus patients within a week.
Notably, doctors of the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, in a recent letter to the Chief Minister had urged him to provide adequate PPE for their safety against the killer virus.
