Bhubaneswar: The positivity rate in Odisha has decreased with the increase in testing and this is a good sign, ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar, Director Dr Sanghamitra Pati told the media on Wednesday.
“The infection is at its peak in Khuda district and the other districts will witness a similar trend in the coming days,” Dr Pati told media.
Khurda district has been reporting over 200 cases every day since the past one week with the highest single-day spike of 342 on August 9. The last 24 hours saw another 297 people testing positive for the virus, which pushed the total to 7,178.
The infection has, however, dropped in COVID-19 hotspot Ganjam district with 13,575 positive cases.
“The report on serological surveillance suggests that the infection is under control in the district,” she said.
Positive cases being detected in the district are mostly contacts of previous patients, she added.
