Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar airport authorities and its stakeholders received a pat from the Ministry of Civil Aviation for facilitating seamless transportation of medical equipment and materials 24×7 in the country’s fight against COVID-19.
A total of 669 boxes or 20.53 tonne of COVID vaccines have been transported through various airlines till May 9 through Bhubaneswar airport.
To overcome oxygen shortage, the airport facilitated movement of 156 empty oxygen tankers, 526 oxygen concentrators, 140 oxygen cylinders by 75 Indian Air Force aircraft like C17, C130J, AN 32 between April 23 and May 11.
A consignment of 3,500 piece of 10 litre seamless cylinder and 1,520 pieces of 46.7 litre seamless cylinders are in pipeline and are expected within a week from foreign countries, stated a release by the Ministry.
The Ministry also appreciated Bhubaneswar airport and its staff for strictly adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe journey for passengers.
COVID vaccination camps are also organised for employees of AAI and other stakeholders in collaboration with the Government of Odisha.
