Rourkela: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha’s Sundargarh district touched 2572 with an overnight addition of 119 new cases.
According to the district administration, around 80 cases have been reported from the Steel City with another 24 inmates and a staffer testing positive for the virus from Rourkela Special Jail.
With this, the number of cases from the jail has gone up to 68.
On June 7, six under-trial prisoners of the jail had tested positive for COVID-19. Seventeen more prisoners were found infected on August 7. Another 20 tested positive on August 11.
Of the 119 cases, 29 were found infected through RT-PCR and the rest underwent antigen test, the administration added.
With 19 deaths and 1489 recoveries, Sundargarh now has 1060 active cases.
