COVID-19 Claims 29-Day-Old Infant In Philippines, The Youngest Victim
Manila: A 29-day-old infant died succumbed to novel coronavirus after contracting pneumonia in the Philippines.
The newborn is believed to be the youngest victim of the global pandemic. Last month, a six-week-old baby died of the virus in the USA.
Health minister Maria Rosario Vergeire confirmed on Tuesday that the boy had difficulty breathing and was rushed to hospital where he tested positive for COVID-19.
The child died of sepsis, a blood infection associated with multipl-organ dysfunction occurring in infants younger than 90 days old, due to the respiratory infection.
Over 5000 positive cases have been reported in the Philippines with the death toll being 349.
