Bhubaneswar: Students of Classes I-VIII in the state-run schools of Odisha have been granted automatic promotion to higher classes. The annual exams were cancelled midway this year due to the coronavirus threat.
“All the students except Class-IX are declared passed without annual examinations this academic session due to COVID-19 situation,” School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said on Friday.
The decision on conducting the remaining one paper of Class IX will be taken once the coronavirus crisis subsides, he said.
The minister assured students, who have appeared for annual Matric Examination-2020 and Plus II Examination, that all the answer sheets are safe and being kept at the evaluation centres amid tight security.
