Bhubaneswar: The Capital City, which had witnessed a marginal drop in daily COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, reported a spike in the last 24 hours.
As many as 71 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the city during the period compared to 45 and 51 cases in the last two days. Though 12 patients recovered from the disease, the total active cases went up to 402 from 343 yesterday.
Of the day’s cases, 15 were from quarantine centres and the rest 56 were local contacts, according to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Among the local contacts, maximum 5 persons tested positive for the disease in Nayapalli. While 4 cases each were reported from Kharvel Nagar, Lewis Road and Niladri Vihar, there were 3 cases each from Bomikhal, Old Town and Rasulgarh.
